Heat pump installations

There are a range of heat pump systems that can be installed to make a home more energy efficient. Domestic & General offers a wide-range of solutions, which are detailed below;

Ground source heat pumps

Ground source heat pumps use pipes buried in the garden to extract natural energy stored in the earth to heat your home.

Ground source heat pumps have a range of benefits:

Air source heat pump

Air source heat pumps convert the free and sustainable latent energy in the air into heat which generates heating and hot water for your home all year round.

Domestic and General can install two different types of air source heat pump: ‘air to air’ or ‘air to water’.

Air to air heat pumps

Air to air heat pumps supply a home’s heating requirement and comprise of an outdoor unit and indoor unit. The outdoor unit extracts the energy from the air outside and is absorbed by a refrigerant solution within the unit. The indoor unit then turns this into warm air which is distributed into the property. Air to air heat pumps require an outside wall, but take up very little room internally making them ideal for smaller homes or apartments.

Air to air pumps can also work as an air cooler in the warmer months and purify air inside the property too, making them particularly beneficial to allergy sufferers.

Air to water heat pumps

Air to water heat pumps generate a home’s hot water supply. As with air to air heat pumps, they are also made up of an indoor and outdoor unit.

The outside unit extracts energy from the latent energy in the air and then compresses it to a high temperature. The indoor unit then uses this energy to generate hot water.
