John Card
Managing Director
John’s extensive knowledge and experience of the industry began developing in 1979 as a cavity wall insulation canvasser whilst at college. John is now Managing Director of Domestic and General Insulation Ltd which employs 380 staff and has a turnover of £23million… Postponing his ambition to be an accountant, John started his own business, Sealed Heat, in 1983, employing three staff. Sealed Heat merged with Domestic and General in 1991 and John took the role as Sales Director, progressing to Managing Director in 1997 John’s role is to deliver the instructions set out by Domestic and General’s shareholders; to take their ideas and develop solid business plans and co-ordinate implementation. Ultimately, John steers Domestic and General and guides the business’s sales team, insulation contracting division, material manufacturing plant, heating and renewables division and network of UK-wide installing contractors. John also sits at the head of finance for the company and ensures all plans and strategies are delivered within budget. John holds numerous business and industry qualifications as well as being a qualified insulation technician for UF Foam and mineral fibre. |
Andrew O’Neill
Sales Director
Andrew has over 19 years experience in the energy efficiency industry, joining Domestic and General ten years ago and steadily rising through the ranks from a self employed surveyor to supervisor, then manager. Andrew became the company’s Sales Director in 2006… Andrew’s key responsibilities are to identify potential markets for the business to explore, generate interest in those areas and research sources of grant funding available for our customers. Indeed, much of Andrew’s work centres on planning for the future of the business. Andrew takes charge of drawing up plans for delivering company sales objectives, which incorporate delivery, marketing, cost analysis and administration of sales. He has ultimate management responsibility for all associated teams amounting to more than 100 staff members. He is currently studying accountancy and has completed various courses in management and health and safety, as well as qualifications in business IT, including crystal report writing.

Paul Jones
Commercial Director
Paul’s relationship started with Domestic and General in 2004 when he was approached to work as a health and safety consultant for the company. During the past seven years with the company Paul has headed up a number of functions across the business and has recently started a new role as Commercial Director… Paul formalised his link with Domestic and General in 2005, taking the permanent role as Health and Safety Manager. He was responsible for ensuring compliance with all industry health and safety requirements as well developing relevant staff training courses and quality procedures. Becoming HR Manager the following year meant Paul also assumed responsibility for the company’s HR, technical and customer care functions. Shortly after Paul took a new role for the company as HR Director during which time he reviewed the business’s structure, recruited key positions for the business in order for it to fulfil growth plans and achieve business goals. In April 2011 Paul moved from HR to the role of Commercial Director; a new role to oversee commercial projects for the company, particularly focussing on the external wall insulation and home improvement markets. Paul will spearhead the growth of these elements of Domestic and General over the coming years. Paul holds diplomas in Supervisory Management and Environmental Health & Safety, is a member of the Institute of Personnel and Development and International Institute of Risk Safety Management. |
Shaun Reynolds
Installations Director
Shaun joined Domestic and General in 2002 from a management background at Cargill. By 2005 Shaun was responsible for the company’s five depots and became Installations Director in 2006… Shaun has overall responsibility for all of Domestic and General installations, ensuring they meet strict quality and technical standards and adhere to all health and safety requirements, while ensuring a customer-focussed work ethic from all of our installation technicians. Shaun demands the very best in installation processes, procedures and techniques for our customers and is responsible for ensuring continual monitoring of the installation crews to ensure outstanding work is taking place. |
