Our Projects

As well as installing our products for individual homeowners, our size and experiences means we have been selected as the installation partner of many local authority schemes to install their housing stock with insulation to bring them up to current standards of energy efficiency. One such scheme was Gloucestershire’s Warm and Well scheme which began in 2001.

Gloucestershire’s Warm and Well scheme
Gloucestershire Warm and Well is a local Government initiative that began its work in October 2001 to raise public awareness of the benefits of insulation, provide specific and appropriate advice to householders and make referrals into grant and discount schemes.

Commissioned by seven local authorities in the Gloucestershire area, the scheme’s aim is to ensure Gloucestershire residents are warm and well. Installing insulation improves living conditions and reduces condensation and/or damp related respiratory illness.

Domestic and General was selected as the accredited installer for carrying out all works under the Warm and Well scheme in April 2004. Since then we installed over 11,000 properties with cavity wall insulation, insulated nearly 15,000 lofts, replaced more than 1,000 boilers and fitted 750 sets of thermostatic radiator valves.

Paul Simpson, our Sales Development Manager, who manages our involvement in the scheme said: “This is one of the projects we’re really proud of. Making a difference to so many people’s lives makes all the hard work really worthwhile.”

Warm and Well – the real benefit

Mr A, a 92 year old householder from Cheltenham who was referred into Warm and Well last winter because he worried about his rising fuel bills and the ever increasing difficulty of keeping his house warm and at a comfortable temperature. As he was over 65, he was eligible for both loft insulation and cavity wall insulation to be installed absolutely free.

“I have been impressed by the courteous and efficient service which has been evident throughout. During the recent, hard winter I have often felt it would have been even harder if the insulation had not been done…”
